Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra

Violin Cello Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra Melbourne
The Victorian Junior Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1942, run under the auspices of the Victorian Schools Music Association. Over the next half century it was a melting pot for young musical talent, with many of its school-aged musicians progressing to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra has since evolved into a community ensemble run solely by the players. In 1988 the name of the orchestra was changed to the Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The VYSO performs four concerts each year. We rehearse on Saturday mornings in North Carlton from 9.30am (arrive 9.15am) until 12.30pm. Player subscription fees are $35 per concert season.

We are always on the look out for new string players. If you play a string instrument (approx AMEB grade 5 or above), are 18-30 years old (or there abouts) and would like to join, we would love to hear from you. Please email us: vyso@vyso.org.au and join in the fun!
